About Greg
Greg Singley – was born in 1950 in Greensboro, Alabama. He received his Associates Degree at Walker Collage Jasper Alabama and furthered his college education at the University of South Alabama, Mobile Alabama. He attended the revered Ringling School of Art for his art training in Sarasota Florida and graduated with honors with a certificate in commercial illustration.
In 1978 Singley moved to Phoenix Arizona to pursue his passion for western art and illustration. He worked for several years as an art director for Phoenix Public News and as a freelance illustrator and at the same time experienced sales of Native American and Western Landscape in several Arizona galleries which include Ratliff Williams Gallery, Sedona Arizona, Fagan Peterson Fine Art, Scottsdale and the Dan May Gallery, Scottsdale Arizona.
After a foray into freelance illustration Singley sought representation for his varied abilities and interest in fine art and found the Phoenix Art Group (formerly John Cline Gallery). It was here, from 1989 to 1997, that Singley came into his own, as one of our country’s leading floral impressionist painters. When asked about this transition he answers,” I was prepared and able to adapt my experiences as an illustrator to achieve the challenge to become an Impressionist painter. Since then he has been represented in the finest galleries from New York to Hawaii. They include:

Singley’s works have been published in limited editions with two of the most prominent publishing companies in the country, Winn Devon (Seattle) and Collector’s Editions (Los Angeles)and New York Graphic Society Norwalk Connecticut..
His works appear in many notable collections both corporate and private:
Barkley’s Bank, New York, The Mayo Clinic, Jacksonville Florida. Private: Rittenhouse of Philadelphia, Pinsylvinia, Wilki, Of Montecito, California. His work appeared in the film “Waiting to Exhale” and numerous TV broadcasts, Including Dallas. Betty Lou Phillips one of the nation’s top designers features Singley’s work in her book, French Influences. He was invited to present his painting technique in the popular magazine “International Artist” June/July 2005.
Today Singley’s floral impressionist works are represented by The Collier Gallery, Tempe Arizona, the Forrest Scott Gallery, West Orange, New Jersey and Jane Hamilton Fine Art, Tuscon, Arizona.
His Native American (original) and Contemporary Southwest (Fine art print) works are exhibited by the Collier Gallery, Tempe Arizona.
Currently Singley lives and paints in Carpinteria California.
Artist Statement:
When the sun sets in the desert South West, things appear. This is the nature of what touches me about that land. The people who lived the old ways there over a century ago knew things and depended on little else but the power in that knowledge. It is expressed in what they left behind. Their war shirts, head dresses, lances, medicine shields and ceremonial wands and their telling expressions in volumes of photography have invaded my soul and recording the impression those relics make on me is the only purpose for my painting. The American Indian was real; he personified the spirit of his land and protected its knowledge.
